This statement is designed to transparently and without ambiguity communicate to our customers and suppliers, why we collect their data, what data we collect and how that data is used.
Protecting your data
Freight Express is committed to protecting and securing any personal date we collect in order to facilitate our services, collecting payment for those services and information and data we receive from our suppliers. Under GDPR regulations we are both a “controller” and a “processor” of information. A controller when we are contacted directly by an individual or business to facilitate a service and a processor when we are contacted by a third party to facilitate a service to one of their clients, ie by a designer or store.
The personal data we collect and use
In the course of operating our business we collect the information you provide to us in order to facilitate the task requested. This information will include, name, email address, postal address, phone numbers, job title.
We also collect personal information from those applying for a job with us. This information will include contact details, education details, driving entitlement, skills information, marital status, nationality and legality to work in the UK. Passport number, NI number and bank details for successful applicants.
When we collect data and why
We collect information directly from you in order to facilitate a task. This can be done via our web site, email or over the telephone.
This information allows us to fulfil an enquiry to us or for the supply of goods and services from you. This may be for a quote for storage or delivery, or to organise storage or delivery, manage an account you hold with us, deal with payments for our services to you, notify you of any changes to our services or resolve disputes or collect overdue payments. We may also make any information given to us available to our bank in order to gain a credit rating for a customer should they wish a credit account from us. We also use data from our suppliers in order to procure goods or services from them.
Use of cookies
A cookie is a small text file which is placed into your computer or other web access device when you use our website. This file does not identify you as an individual but does track such things as visitor numbers to our website.

CCTV
Our premises are protected by CCTV. We collect and process these images in order to ensure a safe environment, and establish a safe and secure work place for our staff plus assisting in any crime prevention or investigation.

Service providers who support us in our business operations, such as other carriers, shipping agencies, technology services, customs agencies, debt collection agencies or solicitors where a dispute has arisen.
Our insurers and insurance brokers if you request cover with us or are making a claim against us.

Any person you have named as a point of contact to discuss your account.
Information passed to our insurers may be entered into a central insurance data base in order to prevent fraud.
Keeping your data secure
We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information being accessed in an unauthorised way. Only those with a legitimate interest in the information have access. All computers are password protected and these are relayed to secure servers, via a password protected network. We do not store customer payment details. All supplier payment details are held within our banks secure system.
Data Breaches
Whilst we will use all reasonable and expected efforts, such as security software to keep your data secure you acknowledge and accept that the use of the internet for the transference of data is not entirely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of data that is transferred via the internet.
How long do we hold your data
This information will be held so long as we have an ongoing business relationship with you. In addition to this we must retain, under UK law, all records for a minimum of 6 years after a year end.
